The world has changed. What mystics and science fiction writers wrote about turned out into reality. Epidemic, isolation, empty streets. The beak of the plague doctor as a symbol of a new being is not offline yet, but already in the images, fantasies and metaphors of street artists.
The OMEN 2020 project was built by the ideas and hands of people who break out of self-isolation under cover of night and continue to create, produce a new reality. These are street artists chased by the day and adored after sunset. We do not know their faces, but we can recognize their handwriting.
It is their saucy art that breaks stereotypes while preferring masks to canvases and wreaths to frames. It is their works that will be remembered for the epidemic, and their images will symbolize the "dark" year for mankind 2020.

About the project
Participants receive a plague doctor mask made of papier-mâché and paint it. An exhibition will be formed from the best works at the end of the self-isolation regime, the presentation of which will take place at a large exhibition space in Moscow.

Making papier-mâché basics
The project has started on March 29, 2020. The day before the introduction of the self-isolation mode: ten liters of glue and several kilograms of sculpted plasticine were bought and this was enough to mold four forms for masks, and daily "get" one or two masks from papier-mâché, ready for painting. Through couriers they go to the artists involved in the project.
Future plans
The project has already managed to bring together several dozen enthusiasts. New directions are launching – music and literature.
After the end of the self-isolation mode the project team will form an exhibition from the best works, the presentation of which will take place at one of the exhibition spaces in Moscow.

Three symbols are intertwined in the name of the project which any person will perceive at a non-verbal level:
1. omen – a sign (English);
2. amen - conclusion (Latin), "so be it" (Hebrew), true (Aramaic);
3. The sign of anarchy, obtained by imposing omen on amen.
Freedom presenters are street artists, who as a rule, are not accessible to galleries and museums. Thanks to this project, they will receive long-deserved attention.
Another important goal of the project is the self-expression of not only the artist, but also the viewer. The mask is a symbol of the obscurity and fear, but a painted mask can easily remove this obsession. Sublimation of anxiety in colors will not only improve society, it will show that even after the blackest night dawn sets in, and it could be of any color.
A few dozens of plague masks and wreath-shaped frames are an evil metaphor for the vulture in the nest, but it has become the most capacious image of 2020. The futuristic blackbook exposition, the embodiment of the darkest thoughts generated by self-isolation will adorn the art space first on-line and then move under the roofs of worthy exhibition venues.

We play because we are people (ludens translated from Latin as "play"). We are people because we play. At the exhibition and in the store. In the family circle and in the love triangle. Roles in the theater. Positions at work, images in networks, images in art. The mask accompanies our I.
All faces are individual. All masks are anonymous. When you put a mask on the face, the individual and anonymous cross in it, forming a personality.
The boundless, indefinite freedom of the individual (amen) lies in a typical definite image. On the other hand, the conclusion of individuality in a mask foreshadows (omen) the personality, the horizon of its capabilities, values, ideas, interactions in society. In the frame of the individual, a personality is revealed. The mask isolates our self, but frames our I. The mask as self-isolation. Self-isolation as a mask.
